Whether you can modify or revoke your living trust depends on its specific language. Typically, if you created a revocable living trust and are mentally competent, you can modify or revoke it at any time.
If you’re curious about your planning, check your trust document for specific provisions. On this matter, my clients’ trusts will generally include language stating they have “the right to revoke or amend the trust agreement, or any trust [t]hereunder.”
If you worked with an attorney to draft your trust, it’s best to contact them about any amendments. The original attorney can usually make changes more efficiently than a new one. A different attorney might recommend redrafting the entire document rather than making your simple change. That said, if you have questions about your documents or situation, please feel free to schedule a free consultation through the link below!
